Research Dissemination Workshop on
“The Export Potential of Laos Agri-Food to the EU Market”
The Economic Research Institute for Industry and Trade, ministry of Industry and Commerce held the Research Dissemination Workshop on “The Export Potential of Laos Agri-Food to the EU Market” in 16 February participated by various participants both in person and online. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Keomorakoth Sidlakorn, Director General of the Institute for Industry and Trade.
The workshop was attended by researchers from five countries: Thailand, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and researchers from the Institute for Industry and Trade, National University of Laos, relevant departments, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Peter Fogde, President of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laos as one of the panelists together with private sector specifically the exporter.
The workshop aims to disseminate the result of the export potential on agri-food to the European market and discussed on the future plan to modify issues in order to encourage the exporter to export more of agri-products.
Introduction the project’s history, presentation of the research as well as the discussion with relevant sectors about the export potential of agri-products and trade between Laos and Europe especially agri-food were also provided. The participants also discussed on some interesting points for doing the research for instance obstacles and challenges of the producer and exporter.
The session provided mutual understanding about potential products, obstacles, challenges, and future plan to increase the competitiveness for agri-products to export to the European market.
