Both LNCCI and ECCIL have a long history of fruitful cooperation in supporting economic development in the Lao PDR by providing services to the private sector. The launch of the jointly developed Child Labour Free Certification Service creates a new service line for both organisations and is expected to strengthen international competitiveness of Lao companies and increasing their commercial success. The Child Labor Free Certification Service targets small and medium-sized enterprises and larger corporations alike. The new service is not limited to any specific sector or products.
The official launch of the new service starts with its first pilot client Hi-Tech Lao Apparel Co., LTD. The company employs about 600 people in its factory in Vientiane Capital and is an internationally successful manufacturer of garments. It exports quality products to acknowledged retail chains in Canada and Germany. Mr. Chamlong JANETANAKIT, Managing Director at Hi-Tech Lao Apparel Co., LTD. expects a positive recognition of the company’s products especially in foreign markets where a growing number of consumers expect transparency as they take an increasing interest in the ethical practices of those they buy from.
The implementation of the Child Labour Free Service of LNCCI and ECCIL has been supported by the ExperTS Programme which is part of the German Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
