LNCCI awards for outstanding businesses for contributions to national economy

A total of 106 companies from 13 sectors across Laos have received the “Top LNNCI Business Leader for 2021 in relation to the Covid-19 Response Award (New Normal)” in recognition of their outstanding performance and contributions during the pandemic.

Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh presided over the ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Khampheng Saysompheng, the LNCCI President, Mr Oudet Souvannavong, the LNCCI Vice Executive President, Mr Daovone Phachanthavong, and senior officials. Before the awards were presented, Mr Daovone highlighted the achievements of businesses in 2021 and the action plan and roadmap for 2022.

He said that over the past year, the business sector faced unavoidable difficulties because of the Covid-19 crisis. “However, members of LNCCI have been working hard to fight for survival and cooperated with the public sector to minimise the difficulties and unnecessary barriers. Many companies were able to pass the test of an unprecedented economic crisis and regularly paid taxes to the government,” he said.

While chairing the ceremony, Prime Minister Phankham lauded the private sector for its patience, solidarity and unity in taking on the difficulties caused by the impact of the pandemic and other related economic issues. “Amid the hardship faced by the private sector in their business operations, the government also had a difficult time because of the economic and financial hardship.

The government cannot survive without the business sector,” he said. The government is ready to walk alongside the private sector to achieve the highest goals for the nation’s economic development, the Prime Minister added.
