On Nov. 8th, 2011, the first of two Airbus A 320 was officially put into service with a ceremony at Wattai Airport, Vientiane. The 150 seat jet will fly from Vientiane to Kunming in China, Bangkok, and Luang Prabang.
The second A 320 is expected to arrive in Laos later in November. The two planes are expected to serve also on new international routes from Laos such as Vientiane-Singapore, which will be operated from Nov. 24th, 2011. Further routes to South Korea and Japan are planned.
BCEL and the Bank of Lao PDR provided a loan of USD 91 million for the purchase of the aircrafts.
