On 16th of July, our Executive Director participated to the second Project Review Committee meeting as part of the ARISE Plus Lao PDR project.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Somchith INTHAMITH, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) with the participant of Mr. Bryan FORNARI, European Union’s Head of Cooperation and Mr. Xuejun JIANG Chief of Office for Asia and the Pacific, ITC.
The ARISE Plus project is oriented towards the improvement of the overall business environment and the increased participation in global value chains for wood and coffee sectors.
The meeting has introduced and reviewed the overall project implementation progress of the past 6 months and highlighted the trade Implications of Lao PDR’s Graduation from LDC status, the Wood Processing Export Roadmap, and Conformity assessment & linkages with SYMST project.
An application process for a Quality Champion programme, to determine 15 Quality champions, is to be completed within July, and meetings with ECCIL EuroCham laos aimed at identifying collaboration and potential synergies for the candidates to join a 12 months intensive programme on quality related issues in the wood and specialty agriculture (coffee) sectors.
