The European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR in partnership with the Tax Department of the Ministry of Finance, DFDL Tax and Legal Services and with the support from the European Union organised the first ECCIL Tax Forum in Crowne Plaza, Vientiane on 8th December 2017.
The event was chaired by Jack Sheehan, ECCIL’s Vice President and DFDL Partner. The forum started with His Excellency Phouthanouphet Saysombath, Director General of the Law Tax Department, giving an introduction to discussions. VAT advisers to the Lao Government, along with leading tax practitioners such as Mr. Phommy Nammavong, Acting Director of the Tax Department, provided invaluable knowledge on the best methods of managing company’s tax affairs in the Laos. Other key topics discussed included the latest developments in Lao Tax Policy, recent changes to VAT regulations, the latest updates on Lao Accounting Compliance, new international developments throughout the region, which bring their influence on the Lao tax landscape. The speeches were followed by a Q&A session where attendees had an opportunity to raise crucial taxation issues of concern with Lao tax department officials and the other panelists.
