EuroCham Laos Meets EU Council President Michel at ABIS

On 10th October 2024, EuroCham Laos had the honor of meeting with EU Council President Charles Michel during the ASEAN Business Investment Summit (ABIS) held in Vientiane. The meeting, also attended by EU Ambassador to ASEAN Sujiro Seam and EU Ambassador to Laos Mark Gallagher, was a platform for discussing the opportunities and challenges faced by European businesses in Laos.

EuroCham representatives, including Executive Committee members Lukasz Nitka and Tim Scheffmann, and Executive Director Stefano Pighin, highlighted issues surrounding digital economy development, financial services integration, and sustainability. The delegation gained valuable insights into the EU’s strategy for strengthening ties within ASEAN, especially in promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

This important dialogue was facilitated by Chris Humphrey from the EU-ASEAN Business Council, emphasizing the role of collaboration between European stakeholders in addressing shared priorities and enhancing business opportunities in the region.
