HELP US prevent COVID-19 community spread by supporting returning migrants with supplies to meet their basic needs

From April 2021 the total number of COVID-19 cases in Laos drastically increased from 49 in April to 16,500 in September 2021. This increase is directly linked to an outbreak in Thailand which caused thousands of Lao migrant workers to return to Laos – at an average of 1,500 people per day, and up to 30% of them testing positive on arrival.

Most of migrant workers are crossing land borders in Savannakhet, Champasak, Khammouane and Vientiane Capital, where Savannakhet sees the highest numbers of daily entries and cases(currently 2,274 active cases + 200 daily cases).

The Government has set up 85 quarantine centres in the country, providing a place for people to who return. However, all basic necessaries, including food, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene items, bedding supplies, clothes, fans, extension plugs etc. are still needed, if people are to remain inside the quarantine centers without interaction with external communities.

In order to prevent further community spread, ECCIL EuroCham Laos is partnering with its Platinum Sponsor Savan Logistics in seeking donations (in cash and in kind) to support the returning migrants in quarantine centres in Savannakhet province.

  • 100% of collected donations in cash will be spent on these aforementioned items and distributed directly to the centers along with in kind donations
  • Your donation can be dropped at the ECCIL office, and our Platinum Sponsor Savan Logistics will transport all donations to Savannakhet quarantine centres.

Thank you very much for your donation!
