ATR and ASSIST Outreach Event in Lao PDR, 23th June 2021. 

The event was co-held by the Lao Business Women’s Association (BWA) together with the ARISE Plus Team on 23rd June 2021; ECCIL EuroCham Laos’ President was one of the co-chair of this event together, with the President of the Lao Handicraft Association and the President of Lao SME Association. With the presence of distinguished guests from various sectors to introduce trade facilitation instruments to assist ASEAN Member States’ private sector, including:

H.E Ina Marčiulionytė, EU Ambassador to the Lao PDR has given a significant opening remarks followed by Mr. Paul Mandl, ARISE Plus Team Leader and Mme Chanthachone Vongsay, the President of BWA respectively.

The main purpose of the event was to introduce two trade instruments to ASEAN Member States’ private sector. The ASEAN Solutions for Investments, Services and Trade (ASSIST) as a consultative mechanism to lodge complaints to ASEAN governments in relation to intra-ASEAN cross-border trade issues which could be accessed and used by ASEAN businesses in order to find solutions to problems encountered by the ASEAN private sector; And the ASEAN Trade Repository (ATR) as a single point of access to all the trade-related information of ASEAN members, intended to provide transparency on the trade, custom laws and procedures of all ASEAN Member States.
