Last year Alistair Hepburn, Managing Director of Lao Tobacco Ltd. (LTL) and a member of the Executive Committee of ECCIL, was honoured by the Lao government with the award of the Lao Labour Medal (1st Class), having been on the board of LTL since 2002

 

For the outstanding achievements & merits he contributed into the leadership & management of         Lao Tobacco Ltd over 15 years. These achievements were a key contribution to the development of Lao PDR”

The Award Ceremony took place on the 16th January 2016 and the Medal and Certificate were presented by Lao’s Minister of Industry & Commerce, Mdm Khemmani Pholsena.

Lao Tobacco Ltd also received a Labour Medal (1st Class) which was presented by Deputy Minister Mr. Siaosavath Savengsuksa at the celebration in December 2016 commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the Joint Venture between the Government of Laos, Coralma (Imperial Tobacco) & S3T.

“The recognition & award both at a corporate & individual level reflects the importance of LTL’s contribution to the country and, via our tobacco growing programme involving c3000 farmers and their families, to the support of the Government’s desire to reduce rural poverty. Being awarded these Medals is seen as a huge honour, as the 1st Class distinction is especially rare.”
